包括谁?
Students who are enrolled in at least one class section that is currently in session will be included in the alert system.  Your contact data is loaded into the alert system the day before a class in which you are enrolled starts, 下课后第二天就会被搬走.  举个例子, a full-length Fall semester class typically begins on about August 25th, 到12月19日结束.  If you were enrolled in a typical Fall semester class, your contact information would be loaded into the alert system on August 24th and would be removed on December 20th (unless you drop or withdraw at which point your contact information would be removed).  Even if you enroll in a Fall semester class as early as April, your contact data will not be loaded into the system until the day before class starts.

Current active faculty and staff are also included in the alert system.  Your information is loaded into the alert system the first day that you become actively employed, and is removed from the alert system the day your employee status becomes inactive.

您如何更新您的联系信息?
MyBC门户 更新您的联络资料. Log into Self Service and update the User Options/Emergency Information.  Currently we only load contact information for phone, 电子邮件, and text messaging into the alert system; we do not currently load physical/mailing address information (although your mailing address IS used to send mail to your physical address, so you should also verify the accuracy of that information).

We can only call direct numbers and cannot call extensions, so please make sure that all of your phone numbers contain direct numbers only.

You have the option to opt out of receiving text messages, but 我们强烈反对学生, faculty and staff from opting out of receiving text messages.  Text messaging is only used for emergency/critical messages, and you will not be spammed if you enable text messaging.

你如何选择接收短信?

When we load your contact information into the alert system, 您将收到一条确认短信.  This will happen the day before your class starts.  如果你是T-Mobile的用户, you will need to reply to the confirmation message with the following message:
Y孤峰
(please note: there is a space between the letter "Y" and the word "BUTTE").  After you do this, you will be confirmed to receive text message alerts from our system.  If you are not a T-Mobile customer, then you don't need to respond to the confirmation text message.

Some of 您将收到一条确认短信 in the beginning of the Spring 2009 semester in early/mid February when our initial data load occurs.  This will happen for students who are enrolled in Spring 2009 courses that have started, 对于活跃的教职员工.

You will only receive one initial confirmation text message (If you register for additional classes in the future you will not be sent additional confirmation text messages).

If you opted out of receiving text messages at some point in the past, 然后决定你想重新加入, send a text message to 67076 with the following message:
订阅孤峰
再一次。, 我们强烈反对学生, faculty and staff from opting out of receiving text messages.

What numbers should you program into your caller ID
?
Our emergency alert phone number is 530-895-2500.  You should save this phone number as "Butte College Emergency" in your phone's caller ID so that you can immediately identify incoming emergency phone calls.

Our non-emergency alert phone number is 530-895-2511.  You should save this phone number as "Butte College Message" in your phone's caller ID so that you can immediately distinguish between emergency alerts and non-emergency alerts.

The phone number/short code that we use for text messages is 67076.  Since text messages are only sent for emergency/critical messages, special attention should be paid when text messages come from that number/short code.

什么是紧急情况vs. 一个非紧急?
Situations deemed as emergencies could include any number of events such as potential and imminent threats of violence (e.g. shooter on campus), campus closure, evacuation, fire, chemical spills, gas leaks, etc.  紧急信息将通过电话发送, 电子邮件, AND text messages (unless you have opted out of receiving text messages, 在这种情况下,你只会收到电话/电子邮件).

在未来, 在我们开发系统的过程中, you may receive class cancellation notices or other critical/important notices if the need arises. 在这些情况下, 混合电话, 电子邮件, and text messages may be sent depending on the nature of the communication.
