Kenneth Bearden

Department Chair

3. Kenneth Bearden has degrees in English from Schreiner University, Arkansas State University, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He began working at Butte College in 2000 and has held several leadership positions in addition to teaching classes in English and the Humanities. When he is not teaching, Kenneth enjoys spending time with his family and his dogs at their home in Oroville.

Michael Camodeca

Michael Camodeca

General Business Instructor

Michael Camodeca grew up in the East Bay in a town called Alamo and moved to Chico for college. He graduated from Chico State in 2000 with an MBA and a focus in marketing. He also holds an undergraduate degree in history. Michael has worked in the biotech industry for 16 years. In 2019, he started working for Butte College as an associate professor, teaching sales strategies, and he loves his work.

Patrick Christensen

Patrick holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelors degree in Accounting from the University of Utah where he graduated magna cum laude and as a Dean's Scholar. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Prior to joining Butte College, Patrick worked as a financial advisor and as controller of a small international business. Patrick’s been quoted in Financial Advisor magazine, Physician's Personal Advisory, Detroit Free Press, Journal of Financial Planning, and on Bloomberg.com. He has written for the Journal of Financial Planning, NAPFA Advisor, and Catalyst Magazine. For fun Patrick enjoys debits and credits and spending time with his family.

Lisa has a passion for helping students find where they fit in the exciting world of business. She is a business and technology enthusiast and a certified online instructor. Lisa Christiansen received her MBA from San Jose State University. She is an experienced entrepreneur for venture funded start-ups as well as her own marketing and business development agency, Christiansen Communications. Lisa brings over 17 years of experience ranging across multiple disciplines including business development, product marketing, market research, marketing strategy and marketing communications. Lisa also spent a number of years on staff for high-tech companies including most recently Director of Marketing for SunGard, an enterprise software company. She also previously led worldwide marketing communications for a $540M business unit of IDT, a communications IC company. Prior to IDT, Lisa managed an advertising budget in excess of $4M for an $88M business unit of Samsung.

Timothy Durfield

Timothy Durfield

Dr. Timothy Durfield studied law at Western State College of Law and completed an MBA and a BS at Azusa Pacific University with a focus in marketing. Dr. Durfield is also a practicing real estate and construction defect attorney in Arizona. He enjoys deep-sea fishing and collecting sneakers.

Sarah Efthymiou teaches business law courses here at the Butte-Glenn Community College district. She is also a practicing attorney with a nonprofit law firm in Orange County where she represents small business owners and nonprofit organizations. She looks forward to exploring the intersections of law and business with her students each semester.

Scott Gordon

Scott Gordon

Accounting Instructor

Scott Gordon has been an accounting and business instructor for many years. His career includes working at Exxon Company USA, Lockheed Missiles and Space, American Electronics Association, New York Life, CalFarm Insurance, and at his own company. He also has experience withing in college administration. He has an MBA from Brigham Young University with an undergraduate degree in organizational communications and a minor in German. He enjoys hiking and traveling; he is happiest when he can combine the two.

Kevin Hanley earned a master’s degree in public policy analysis from Claremont Graduate University and graduated cum laude with a BA in political economy of industrialized societies from the University of California at Berkeley. Kevin served as a surface warfare officer aboard the USS Midway aircraft carrier deployed in Japan, as a chief policy consultant in the California Assembly, a Governor Insurance policy advisor, mayor of Auburn, and the CEO of a local chamber of commerce. Kevin has written over 300 columns on local, state, and national affairs for regional newspapers.

In 1963 Look Realty (sole proprietorship) opened its doors to the public. It was in 1986 that Amber Hatter began her career in real estate thanks to her dear father who taught her everything about the business. Currently, Amber is the owner/broker of Look Realty (LLC) in Fremont, CA. She holds an MBA, an MS in accounting, and a California real estate broker’s license. Her responsibilities include selling, leasing, and managing residential properties. Also, between 1998–2013, she served as a loan officer and financial advisor at two different mortgage companies and one bank (Prior State and Federal Loan License).

Steve Price

Steve Price

Economics Instructor

Steve Price has a Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Technology from Chico State and a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of San Francisco. Mr. Price was a computer-based training developer with Boeing and AT&T working on projects for the F-15 Eagle aircraft, high-speed Internet services and other technical topics. After earning a Master’s Degree in Economics, Mr. Price worked as an Economist for the U.S. Department of Labor. There he developed and conducted quantitative studies to monitor wholesale-level inflation as well as import and export price level changes. Later, he was employed by the U.S. State Department as a Foreign Service Officer with an emphasis in Economic Affairs. He served overseas in Amsterdam, Holland. He has taught Economics for Butte College, Chico State and Yuba College. Mr. Price is the advisor to the Butte Investment Club.

Andrew Radler

Economics Instructor

Andy recently completed a fellowship at Stanford University in global economics. His graduate degree was through the University of San Francisco and his B.S. from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He served as a practicing economist for eight years, earning promotions to head divisions and departments of community development in both California and Massachusetts. As the Assistant Director of Community and Economic Development, Andy was responsible for preparing redevelopment plans, grant writing, and coordination with state and federal agencies. Earlier, he earned fellowships to study in Germany and Japan, including a Japanese Fulbright Memorial award. He also completed a fellowship at Amherst College, which was awarded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Juanne Van Der Linde

Accounting Instructor

Juanne Van Der Linde holds an MBA and a BA in business administration with an emphasis in entrepreneurship and accounting. Teaching is her passion, and she loves working with her students. Juanne prides herself on her ability to support, guide, and advocate for those who need it. Although accounting can be an intimidating subject, she drives to make it approachable, understandable, and even fun. Her golden tip: When in doubt, draw a T-account!
