Student Learning/Administrative Unit Outcomes

Even though the survey results clearly demonstrate that the Vice President for Student Services Office is meeting its SLO objectives, there is always room for improvement. Our office will continue to seek opportunities to increase our understanding of student concerns or issues and the inappropriate behaviors that are oftentimes the result. Additionally, it is important to keep up-to-date on current legislation as it definitely impacts students and plays a significant role in their wellbeing and success. Having a better understanding of the concerns and issues our students face, along with keeping current on legislative changes, will ensure that our office is well-equipped to provide the best possible assistance to those who need help and/or guidance. Whether students come into our office for general assistance or to deal with a disciplinary infraction, we will continue to ask these students if their issues have been addressed appropriately by our office staff to make sure that we are meeting our SLO objectives.

Diploma Production and Delivery to Graduates Directly from Vendor Diploma production (initial and reprints) is a very time intensive task. The Vice President's Office researched outsourcing the production of our diplomas in Spring/Fall 2018. A company was selected that enabled us to have diploma templates created and maintained that are industry standard. Further, this company ensures that each diploma printed is exemplary - no flaws! This has saved the Office of the Vice President's staff numerous hours of staff time. After having this company produce our diplomas over several cycles to date, we have determined that this company produces an exemplary product; thus, in order to create further efficiencies in the Vice President's office and in Admissions and Records, we want to have this company directly mail diplomas to students. Currently, the District covers the cost of mailing diplomas; consequently, the postage is not a new expense to the District; it is a shift of where the expense is allocated.
